Neil Young + Promise of the Real: Rebel Content Tour Italy 2016

Quattro concerti indimenticabili quelli che Neil Young + Promise of the Real hanno tenuto nel luglio 2016 in Italia. Apertura solista, set acustico con la band (e, a sorpresa su un paio di pezzi, papà Willie Nelson, ospite davvero gradito), quindi un lungo e focoso set elettrico: la struttura dei concerti è un'escalation di energia e volume. Come avevamo già notato ascoltando The Monsanto Years, il nuovo live album Earth e i bootleg delle precedenti performance americane ed europee, la band dei fratelli Nelson sa infondere una variegata vitalità al repertorio vecchio e nuovo di Neil, e soprattutto gli fornisce una pacca che non si sentiva probabilmente dai tempi della collaborazione con i Pearl Jam. Davvero belli i momenti di interplay tra Neil e Lukas Nelson, che ci ricordano quelli con Stills o Danny Whitten. Da menzionare anche il basso di Corey McCormick, un vero caterpillar che sorregge l'intera sezione ritmica, ma anche le percussioni di Tato Melgar e le chitarre suonate con l'archetto da Micah Nelson.

Accanto ai classici su cui il folk-rocker non ha lesinato, con particolare abbondanza del materiale di Harvest per la gioia dei fan italiani, non sono mancate le chicche: "Revolution Blues", "Vampire Blues", "Change Your Mind", "Western Hero", "After The Garden","Like An Inca", "If I Could Have Her Tonight", "Are There Anymore Real Cowboys".
